So you are in Boone, North Carolina for Christmas. What are you going to do to take advantage of this beautiful Winter Wonderland? Below are the 3 MUST DO THINGS at Christmastime in Boone, North Carolina. Make sure to take some time to do a few of these things to enjoy a truly Boone Christmas!
1. Classic Christmas Tree Farm Photo
You are going to want to take this classic photo while shopping for that perfect tree. Here is the process:
- Go to local Christmas Tree Farm
- Grab a measuring pole
- Find your perfect tree (not as easy as that sounds)
- Before cutting… stand in front of it and take a group picture!
This area is one of the top producers of Christmas Trees in the country so make sure to grab a fresh tree from your local farmer. Don’t buy one from Walmart or Food Lion!
2. Sledding in the Snow
This one is very hard for me to admit. To be honest, I do not like the snow. I do not like the extremely painful wind that the mountains share with us. I would much rather have a warm sunny day on the mountainside with a cool refreshing breeze. But when you are flying down the mountain on a sled/plastic lid/trashbag/whatever there is no denying that smile racing across your face.
Bring out the kid in yourself this winter. Boone, North Carolina provides the best snow for a wonderful sledding session. The perfect powder combined with the amazing hills in this town will give you a grin from ear-to-ear. Don’t just watch this kids sled this year… get out there and have fun for yourself.
3. Pause and Give Thanks
I know I know… THANKSgiving just ended. But I want to tell you that we are lucky to be in Boone, North Carolina. We have the ability to get away from all the buzz in the world and curl up in our small mountain town. Some say that this little mountain town is becoming too “big city” “college town” “chain-restaurant” etc etc. Take a moment this holiday season to stop and look around at the beauty this area has to offer.
Make sure to take time and give thanks to those in your life that have to deal with you everyday. For me, I need this season to come every year because I need to thank the Lord for helping me make it through the year. I need time to ask God what He wants me doing in 2015. I encourage you to ask Him what He would have you do in 2015. You can do something GREAT!
If this post didn’t give you enough Holiday Joy, check out this video of my baby boy. This is his reaction to seeing snow for the very first time:
